Nationwide – Tailored training leading to qualifications
Tailored project management training and support leading to externally recognised qualifications.
The Challenge
Nationwide recognised a need to enhance its capabilities to meet the challenges of delivering projects of the right quality to increasingly more challenging timescales and budgets. Nationwide also recognised the benefits both for the individual and the company of having project managers and key staff accredited with an externally recognised project management qualification.
The Solution
Provek provided a range of tailored training based on best-practice project management and also aligned with Nationwide’s own project life cycle. The tailoring included development of a Nationwide specific Case Study from which appropriate syndicate group exercises could be facilitated throughout the training courses. The key elements of the Nationwide solution included:
2-day APM Introductory Certificate course – for those regularly involved in delivering projects as a team member or work package lead or an inexperienced project manager. This culminates in the 1 hour APM IC examination.
3-day Professional Project Management course – for project managers or key players in project teams who wish to understand best-practice project management and how to apply it in the work place, but who do not wish to gain a qualification.
6-day APMP course (in 2 x 3-day modules) – for those regularly fulfilling the role as project manager (or work package lead of significant projects) of various levels of experience. This culminates in the 3 hour APMP examination.
1-day preparation workshop + 2-day APM Practitioner Qualification (APM PQ) assessment event – for experienced project managers who wish to gain a qualification that demonstrates their ability to manage a project.
The Benefits
Some of the benefits identified from the tailored training and support provided by Provek were:
- The appropriate level, breadth and depth of project management training to suit the role of the individual, has enabled those involved in delivering projects, regardless of level or role, to improve their ability to contribute to successful project delivery.
- Over 400 project managers and other project staff now have a better understanding of how to apply practical and professional project management in the work place.
- More motivated project management staff because of the nature of the training experience and also in many cases achieving an externally recognised qualification.
Nigel Lambden, from Learning & Development in Nationwide, also commented on Provek’s partnership with Nationwide over the past several years: “Provek are a first class organisation who provide us with the specialist knowledge and support for our key Project Management training. The quality of service from all the team is always consistent, excellent and friendly”.
