Choosing the best project managers

Identifying the top 100 project managers from 500 project managers required a thorough and highly reputable assessment approach which gained the confidence of the board and the project managers.

The Challenge

The company is committed to demonstrating world-class project management performance in delivery to customers. One contribution to this goal is the desire to objectively assess each of its current project managers against a set of externally benchmarked standards.  The assessment had to accurately assess the project management experience and knowledge of a range of project managers.

The Solution

The assessment programme consisted of four major activities of which Provek provided two key elements to project managers:

  • on-line Project Management Assessment (PMA5) which assesses the project management  knowledge, experience, and situational decision making ability
  • scored Structured CV which assesses the project career history, project management experience and achievements, and relevant key project skills.

Both the Structured CV and the PMA5 results have been benchmarked by Provek against the International Project Management Association’s (IPMA) four levels for project management certification.  The four levels outline by IPMA are Level A – projects director, Level B – senior project manger, Level C – project manager and Level D – project management associate.

The Benefits

An objective and credible externally benchmarked assessment provided the board with the cost effective means of identifying the best project managers within the company.  The programme manager said “Provek provided a valuable service, centred around their suite of dedicated assessment tools, which has contributed greatly to a successful programme.”
