Are you ready for the APM Registered Project Professional?
The need for recognition of project professionals remains strong. The Association for Project Management is responding to this need by launching a new standard called Registered Project Professional, whilst their application to become a chartered body is still being considered.
The APM has decided to pilot a new professional standard for a project professional and to prepare to open a register to applicants by early 2011. Whilst achieving Chartership remains a top priority, the standards that have been developed for that will be launched through the new APM Registered Project Professional standard.
Provek has been intimately involved in the development of the new professional standard through its representation on the standards working group in the Chartership Programme. Furthermore, Provek has unique tools and experience of assessing candidates against the new professional standard.
Do you meet the standard?
The new professional standard is set at Level 6 of the APM Competence Framework which indicates the competence to lead others in managing a complex project. To see whether you meet the standard for free, you can use Provek's Competence Profiler which uses under licence a paraphrased version of the APM Competence Framework.
Criteria
The application process for registered project professional will involve a self assessment against the APM Competence Framework, evidence of at least 35 hours per year continuing professional development (CPD), a project based CV and a professional interview. A register of project professionals will be opened by the APM in March 2011.
