How do I decide which NVQ level is right for me?
NVQ s are about accrediting competence within the workplace.
The idea is that you should be doing a qualification that matches the level you are operating at within your job. For instance you may already have a Degree level qualification but this does not automatically mean that you would do an NVQ Level 4.
If your job role and level of interaction with customers/clients is at Level 2 or 3 then that is the Level of NVQ you should be undertaking.
It is sometimes easier to understand this in terms of practical skills, if one had a Masters in Psychology for instance, it could not be assumed that jumping to an NVQ Level 4 in plumbing would be suitable, the level 2 would still be required to gain underpinning skills to perhaps eventually then progress over time and experience to level 4.
NVQ assessors need to see evidence of competence at the Level of qualification you are undertaking, if this is not part of your role you will not be able to evidence this to complete your qualification. Please see course descriptors for more information and feel free to discuss this with us if you are still unsure.
