Professional Development

Bring the learning in the classroom to life

A Professional Development Placement (PDP) offers a teacher the opportunity to undertake a placement within your business to support their development and enhance their teaching practice.

Placements provide relevant practical experience, keep teachers knowledge up to date and ensure they understand what employers’ need.

When teaching is informed by business practice, evidence suggests that young people are more likely to be engaged, learn and be better prepared for the workplace.

PDPs usually take place on business’ premises and can last from half to a full day.  Many teachers are also keen to undertake work shadowing placements or have the support of a mentor from the business world.

This is your chance to help teachers and ensure that young people are finding out about the rapidly changing world of business and what that means for their working life and the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in the future.
