Helping young people to succeed with HCS StopGap

What is StopGap?

StopGap is a year long specialist programme run by HCS for young people in Hertfordshire aged 16-25 with asperger's syndrome or social and communication difficulties.

The programme offers learners:

  • courses in functional skills, employability skills and citizenship at NVQ level 1
  • participation in art therapy, drama therapy, work experience and volunteering opportunities
  • an individual key worker who helps them set weekly and monthly individual targets

Referrals to StopGap are usually made to HCS via a Youth Connexions Personal Adviser or the student's current school or college
